Terms of Service

1. Service Description

chessanalyses.com is a web-based chess analysis platform available at chessanalyses.com. The platform provides game analysis powered by Stockfish, tactical puzzles, coaching insights, an AI Chess Agent, opening exploration, and performance tracking.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

• You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
• Accounts are created using email-based authentication (magic links). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and email address.
• One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits or for any other reason is prohibited.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Subscription & Billing

The Service offers two tiers:

• Free — Limited game analyses (5/month), puzzles (10/day), masters & Lichess opening explorer, and limited AI Coach reviews.
• Pro ($14.99/month) — Unlimited game analyses, puzzles, AI Coach reviews, move explanations, AI Chess Coach (50 messages/day), auto-sync from Lichess & Chess.com, personal games opening explorer, and spaced repetition training.

All payments are processed by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles billing, sales tax, VAT, and payment processing on our behalf. By subscribing, you also agree to Paddle's Terms of Service.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month. Prices are listed in USD and may vary by region due to local taxes applied by Paddle.

4. Cancellation & Refunds

• You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your profile page.
• After cancellation, you retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
• All your data — games, analyses, puzzle progress — is retained after downgrading. You only lose access to Pro-only features.
• You may request a full refund within 14 days of any subscription payment, no questions asked. See our Refund Policy for full details.

5. Third-Party Integrations

The Service connects to third-party chess platforms — specifically Lichess and Chess.com — to fetch your game data for analysis. By using these integrations, you agree to comply with the terms of service of those platforms.

chessanalyses.com is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Lichess or Chess.com. We access publicly available game data through their APIs.

6. Intellectual Property

The analysis reports, coaching insights, puzzles, and other outputs generated by the Service are provided for your personal chess improvement. You may share your own reports and results freely.

The underlying platform — including its code, design, algorithms, branding, and user interface — remains the property of chessanalyses.com. You may not reproduce, reverse-engineer, or redistribute any part of the platform without our written consent.

Chess analysis is powered by Stockfish, an open-source chess engine licensed under the GPL.

7. AI-Generated Content

The AI Coach and AI Chess Coach produce computer-generated analysis and recommendations. While these features are grounded in real Stockfish evaluations and chess principles, they are not a substitute for professional coaching.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated outputs. Use them as one input in your chess improvement, not as authoritative advice.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data or chess rating changes.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

9. Acceptable Use

Your use of the Service is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. Upon termination for cause, you forfeit access to the Service and any remaining subscription period. Refunds for terminated accounts are handled per Paddle's standard refund policy.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Iceland, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Iceland.
